Welcome To Spider Sense, a Board Self-Assessment Tool for Not-For-Profit Organizations.

This tool allows boards of not-for-profit organizations undertake a self-assessment in a comprehensive yet simplified manner. The program assists organizations in developing a self-assessment questionnaire and collecting input from any number of board members (or anyone else designated to participate). A customized report of the results, with "spider charts" and written analysis, is then generated. The report can be viewed online and emailed to each participant.

The evaluation addresses the board’s responsibilities in areas of governance, management, and overall organizational performance. It can work equally well for boards of large organizations with dozens of staff and multi-million dollar budgets as it can for working boards of small organizations with no staff and very modest budgets.

After undertaking a Board Self-Assessment, organizations have a better understanding of their strengths and of their challenges. The goal is to encourage continuous improvement, to have good, well-intentioned boards become even better. If the self-assessment is undertaken on a regular basis, say annually or bi-annually, then the report that is generated can compare current results to previous ones.
